初看此文我目瞪口呆,學英文能學到這種程度簡直是不簡單,想起以前學英文的時候只要能把語句翻譯過來,能讓人看懂大概意思就不錯了,時常還嫌棄那些連猜帶蒙的翻譯軟體或網站的譯文,那叫什麼翻譯!
這下可好了,看到這個以後感覺自己翻譯的東西恐怕只有自己才可以看得懂,實在佩服原作者真想得周到,貼上來也給學長們欣賞一下,注:奧巴馬=歐巴馬(美國總統)
想一想前幾日d61103小兄弟關於目前選擇前途問題的文章說,在美國有中文基礎也許會看好,如果小兄弟達到這個程度就更好了是吧,我看照你這個年紀將來會更勝之,畢竟我們也看到你的文筆確實不錯,有為少年加油啊!

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.
余嘗聞世人有疑，不知當今美利堅凡事皆可成就耶？開國先賢之志方巋然於世耶？民主之偉力不減於昔年耶？凡存諸疑者，今夕當可釋然。
It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different, that their voices could be that difference.
今夕之釋然，皆蒙美利堅民眾之協力——學塾祠廟之外，市井鄉野之間，萬千父老心焦似焚，苦待竟日，願獻一票之力。其中，平生未嘗涉國事者，數亦不少，而今有此義舉，皆因一念不衰——今夫天下，非同既往，願發籲天之聲，必成動地之勢。
It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled. Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of red states and blue states. We are, and always will be, the United States of America.

It’s the answer that led those who’ve been told for so long by so many to be cynical and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this date in this election at this defining moment change has come to America.

A little bit earlier this evening, I received an extraordinarily gracious call from Sen. McCain.
Sen. McCain fought long and hard in this campaign. And he’s fought even longer and harder for the country that he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine. We are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him; I congratulate Gov. Palin for all that they’ve achieved. And I look forward to working with them to renew this nation’s promise in the months ahead.

I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn’t start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington. It began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston. It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give $5 and $10 and $20 to the cause.

It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation’s apathy who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep.
It drew strength from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on doors of perfect strangers, and from the millions of Americans who volunteered and organized and proved that more than two centuries later a government of the people, by the people, and for the people has not perished from the Earth.

And I know you didn’t do this just to win an election. And I know you didn’t do it for me.You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime — two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century.

Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us.There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after the children fall asleep and wonder how they’ll make the mortgage or pay their doctors』 bills or save enough for their child’s college education. There’s new energy to harness, new jobs to be created, new schools to build, and threats to meet, alliances to repair.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t
agree with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know
the government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be
honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you,
especially when we disagree. And, above all, I will ask you to join
in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it’s been done in
America for 221 years — block by block, brick by brick, calloused
hand by calloused hand.
逶迤坎坷，份內之事。異見爭端，料必有之。國中之政府，諒
非無所不能者。余所秉承不移者，唯忠信矣。倘有危難於前，必無欺瞞於世。
諸君言論臧否，縱悖逆相左之議，余必當洗耳以聆。於此之外，更當懇請諸君
，不吝心血，致力報效，以振吾美利堅重興之業。余亦別無他想，唯盼吾儕協

What began 21 months ago in the depths of winter cannot end on this
autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is
only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if
we go back to the way things were. It can’t happen without you,
without a new spirit of service, a new spirit of sacrifice.
昔年冬日，余有志於斯，投身此業，屈指算來，倏然近二載矣
。當此秋夜，追思反省，仍無潰退逃亡之意。選戰之勝，無非一役之功，余夢
寐所思矢志所求者，非在乎此。溯源究本，此役之勝，不過革世變時一大好良
機耳。倘止步於斯，垂手而待，或無諸君傾力相援，則壯志豐功，無非泡影，
諸般夢想，終必虛妄。
So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where
each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not
only ourselves but each other. Let us remember that, if this
financial crisis taught us anything, it’s that we cannot have a
thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers. In this country, we
rise or fall as one nation, as one people.
愛國之心，報國之念，吾人固有之，然逢今日之世，此心此念
亦當一變——吾輩各執己業，益當各竭其力，各盡其命，非但為一己之利，而
更期普世之榮。今歲，金融業界動盪多舛，細審觀之，當可以之為鑒——實業
之損，亦是金融之傷。可知，既在邦域之內，吾輩榮辱休戚，皆相與共矣！
Let’s resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship
and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so
long. Let’s remember that it was a man from this state who first
carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a
party founded on the values of self-reliance and individual liberty
and national unity.Those are values that we all share.
黨爭紛紜，陰謀卑鄙，愚魯無知，皆腐蝕清白、惑亂政局之弊
也，其緣由已久，余今願與諸君協力，共滅除之。昔年曾有此郡先賢，執共和
黨之幟，而掌總統府之權。自強獨立，自由統一等信念，皆斯人之所倡，亦吾
輩之所宗。
(篇幅太長,再跟自己一貼) And while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do
so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides
that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far
more divided than ours, we are not enemies but friends. Though
passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.
今歲選戰，吾民主黨人幸有一勝，然謙遜和合之心未嘗少減。
余素信服者，乃山河破碎之際，林肯總統之言——「既是至親，終不為敵。雖
弩張劍拔，而血脈未嘗斷，情義不少減。」
And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not
have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help.
And I will be your president, too.

此一票之緣，然諸君高論，余亦聲聲在耳，字字在心。倘能得諸君之援手，鄙
人幸甚。他日待余總而統之，亦必不另眼以待也。
And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from
parliaments and palaces, to those who are huddled around radios in
the forgotten corners of the world, our stories are singular, but our
destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand.
吾邦民眾，散居天下，各安其命，而其志一也。吾邦鼎盛之勢
，今已乍現鋒芒。
To those — to those who would tear the world down: We will defeat
you. To those who seek peace and security: We support you. And to all
those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright:
Tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation
comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but
from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty,
opportunity and unyielding hope.
至於心懷叵測，與世人為仇、與天下為敵者，吾邦猛志常在，

That’s the true genius of America: that America can change. Our
union can be perfected. What we’ve already achieved gives us hope
for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.

This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for
generations. But one that’s on my mind tonight’s about a woman who
cast her ballot in Atlanta. She’s a lot like the millions of others
who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except
for one thing: Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.
今歲選戰，多開亙古之先，屢傳千秋佳話。感我至深者，亞特
蘭大之老嫗安•尼克松•庫帕也——庫氏之一票，於數百萬美利堅民眾之選票無異
，其所以引人稱奇者，其人今歲高齡一百有六矣。
She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were
no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her
couldn’t vote for two reasons — because she was a woman and because
of the color of her skin.

And tonight, I think about all that she’s seen throughout her

At a time when women’s voices were silenced and their hopes
dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for
the ballot. Yes we can.
萬馬齊喑，其事堪哀，吾邦女界怒而起，憤而爭，苦戰不歇，
歷數十載。幸哉庫氏，以百歲之高齡，終得親見女流自立於世，重獲天賦之權
——吾輩既在，無所不能！
When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the
land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs,
a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.
當百業蕭條，國人絕望哀鳴之際，庫氏親見吾美利堅出曠世之
新政，挽狂瀾於既倒，扶大廈之將傾，退畏懼之勢，扶奮勇之心，終至人各有
位，民心乃安——吾輩既在，無所不能！
When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world,
she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a
democracy was saved. Yes we can.
當吾國良港遭襲，天下桀紂當道，暴政肆虐之時，庫氏親見豪
傑群起，民主不衰——吾輩既在，無所不能！
She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a
bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that
「We Shall Overcome.」 Yes we can.
蒙哥馬利公車之罷輟，伯明翰城黑人之群起，塞爾瑪城血雨腥
風之事，庫氏般般親歷。更曾親聆亞特蘭大傳教之士振臂登高之呼——「吾等

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world
was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in
this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote,
because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the
darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.
俟科學昌明於世，創想通貫一時，既登廣寒之闕，又潰柏林之
牆。洋洋乎！有百年如是，乃見今歲選戰中，庫氏之一票。浩浩兮！一百零六
載交鋒更迭，方有美利堅今日之變革——吾輩既在，無所不能！
America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so
much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves — if our children
should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so
lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see?
What progress will we have made?
轉眼興亡過手，而今邁步從頭。追昔撫今，不禁捫心而問——
俟再歷百年歲月，倘吾等後輩兒孫，亦有得享高壽如庫氏者，復可見何等之變
數？吾輩今日之功，他年可得而見之乎？
This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is
our time, to put our people back to work and open doors of
opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause
of peace; to reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental
truth, that, out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope.
And where we are met with cynicism and doubts and those who tell us
that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up
the spirit of a people: Yes, we can.
所謂天命時運，莫過於此——當為吾邦萬民造安身立命之業，
為吾輩兒孫啟各顯雄才之門，為寰宇各國創太平靜好之世，為吾等壯志賦千秋
不滅之元神。吾邦立國之本，必將光耀於天下。萬千同胞，當如一人，一息尚

拜謝諸君。願天祐吾民，天祐吾邦。 寫出這篇文章的人，小弟只能說…佩服他。要寫文言文，自己本身的國文底子要很好，畢竟這年代很少人會用文言文了(大都是在課本中才會接觸吧…)
而且，思路必須為英文-->中文-->文言文…
(突然想到那些在國外唸書的人，常常碰到考試中的翻譯題。不也是這樣?? )
其實有些句子，小弟一直覺得還是只有文言文可以表現它的美，就如同唐詩一樣如果把唐詩翻成白話文，那種感覺就完全不一樣了… 報告山兄

我承認我辦不到。
不過沒關係，台灣有火星文跟注音文。（謎之音：還有蔡英文，鄭麗文，以及郝劭文∼）
相信沒多久就會有火星文版跟注音文的翻譯了∼

我以前有位同事是英語系（英文系？外語系？外文系？）畢業的。
他說他們在學校時有門課就是要把文言文翻譯成英文。有論語，有唐詩，有宋詞，有元曲。
所以我在猜，這會不會是大陸某大學英語系教授派給學生學生的英翻中作業？
